AGM news: subs frozen!

Submitted by Olwyn Hocking on Thu, 30/11/2023 - 16:32

Despite a rise of 7% rise in rent charged for our allotment site and water supply costs, the AGM agreed with Treasurer John Farrington's recommendation that subs should remain at a standstill. Topics discussed at the meeting, held at Jesmond Library, included security - fortunately the thefts did end after several months of difficulties - and the increased problems arising from overgrown plots, such as paths not being kept clear. There was support for progress on identifying and developed the non-cultivated "wild" areas to maximise their value as rich habitats for pollinators and other complementary wildlife. Five new members have joined, and all committee members were re-elected. Thanks were expressed for particular help from Mike Hunter and Steve Fletcher, and others who have gone the extra mile. Dates were agreed for the 2024 Clearances and Socials, together with the AGM, and can be seen on the website Calendar here. The AGM Minutes are now available on our Resources page, here.
