2021's Allotment Week proved fertile ground for gardeners to share ideas across the city and beyond. And the  profile of allotments has remained high until the end of the month, with the national society taking part in a Gardeners' World Live Special - details here.

Covid rules meant that Newcastle's annual Allotment Week in August was once again virtual. The pandemic has resulted in new ways for gardeners to swap pictures and ideas - the city now has a lively Facebook Allotment and Garden Show group. You can get involved here. This year, as COP26 looms in November, the Newcastle Allotments website added a checklist for sustainable gardening.

The National Allotment Society held a week of virtual events, with presentations from experts and Q&A sessions on no-dig plotting, composting, organic gardening, water harvesting and allotmenting on a shoestring. The presentations are now available as pdfs - you an  access them here.
